Not being on my friends list does not mean you are not my friend ... and it doesn't mean I don't read your journal. Who is or isn't on my friends list is determined by a complicated devision logarithm coupled in with legacy network of Apple computers (?) ... or something like that.
I still read your journal ... that's not what my friends list is about. I could write down a list of people I am friends with and stick it in a public place, but I kind of think my friends will know they are my friends based on our interactions ... not their inclusion on a "Tim's Friends" list posted on a community notice board at the local shops.
My friends page is there so that if I don't have time to sit down and read through peoples journals, I can quickly have a scan through what's going on for people I see and talk to every day - so I'm not behind on their gossip, or where they are going to be tonight.
If I'm reading other peoples journals, I'd rather actually go to their journal so I can see the way they have set it out and their colours and etc as well. Otherwise, what's the point of everyone spending so much time on the layout of their journals if I only ever see it in the style I have picked for my friends page.
